A history of the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism has recently been published by Cambridge University Press, as the second volume in the five-volume Centennial History of the Carnegie Institution of Washington. Written by the late Louis Brown, who completed the book in the fall of last year, the history covers the entire range of work undertaken at DTM since 1904, including research on terrestrial magnetism, ionospheric physics, nuclear physics, seismology, biophysics, geochemistry, as well as radio and optical astronomy. An extensive collection of images accompanies the text, illustrating laboratories, fieldwork, and important events on the campus.
