Catherine Hier-Majumder arrived on the campus in April to begin her term as a MESSENGER fellow, working with DTM director Sean Solomon. Hier-Majumder’s research focuses on the application of computational fluid dynamics to problems in the evolution of the Earth and other planetary bodies. While at Carnegie she will also collaborate with Alain Vincent of the University of Montreal and David Yuen of the University of Minnesota on modeling finite Prandtl convection in three dimensions. Previous to joining DTM, Hier-Majumder was a postdoctoral researcher at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
