Boss Featured in October Issue of Discover Print E-mail
Wednesday, 21 September 2005

DTM staff scientist Alan Boss is featured in the October 2005 issue of Discover magazine. The article, titled “Researchers expect to find another planet like ours,” discusses ongoing developments in scientific theories and technology that have led scientists to believe that the discovery of an Earth-like planet is not far off. Boss is featured in a Q&A section alongside the article, where he discusses the evolution of his own research from studying star formation to his recent work in modeling planet formation.

More Soundbytes Boss was quoted in an October 4, 2005 New York Times article summing up the never-ending planet debates. He describes the process as being something like, "trying to shovel frogs into a wheelbarrow--they keep jumping out again."

Boss was also quoted in the September 22 issue of USA Today, in an article titled "The definition of a planet is going under the telescope." The article comments on the ongoing arguments of what constitutes as a planet. Along with various members of the astronomical community, Boss offers his opinion on the discrepancies.
