Pieces of Solar System History
Friday, 05 May 2006

piecesofsshistory.gif DTM's Henner Busemann, Conel Alexander, and Larry Nittler published a paper in Science this week, entitled “Interstellar Chemistry Recorded in Organic Matter from Primitive Meteorites.” In this paper, Busemann, Alexander, and Nittler, and collaborators, propose that “both meteorites (originating from the asteroid belt) and interplanetary dust particles (possibly from comets) preserve primitive organics that were a component of the original building blocks of the solar system.”

In the same Science issue, Bernard Marty of the Centre de Recherches Petrographiques et Geochimiques in Cedex, France discusses the paper in a "Perspectives" article, “Planetary Science: The Primordial Porridge.”

Busemann, Alexander, and Nittler are quoted in news articles on Physorg.com, Universe Today's Web site, Space Daily's Web site, on the BBC, and on the New Scientist online.
