Rubin to Receive Distinguished Achievement Award from Vassar |

Vera Rubin was awarded the 2007 Lifetime Achievement of Vassar College’s Alumnae and Alumni Association. According to the association, the award “is given to a Vassar College alumna or alumnus who has achieved the highest level in her or his field of endeavor,” while also demonstrating leadership to “better the human community and to serve the wider goals of society.”
Rubin will receive her award and speak at Vassar today on “How I Left Vassar and Found Dark Matter: Reflections on Vassar and Astronomy.” Rubin’s work is highlighted in the Winter 2006 issue Vassar’s Alumnae/i Quarterly.
