Mud Cup XX Ends in Draw
This year’s spring Mud Cup ended in a 1-1 tie last Friday at Rock Creek Hills Park in Kensington. According to weather reports prior to the much-anticipated event, rain was likely, and the players were set for a “true” Mud Cup as skies clouded over and rain seemed inevitable. However, players and fans alike faced sunny skies, blistering temperatures, and swampy humidity as the game commenced at 2 p.m. Despite the sweaty conditions, the DTM Dynamos played an all-around excellent game. DTM's lone goal--and first of the game--was scored by Isamu Matsuyama in his Mud Cup debut.
Several DTM fans assembled into a cheering squad for the fearless Dynamos, complete with bright orange signs, loud cheers and chants, and plenty of attitude. Thanks to Katie Cooper for initiating the sign-making. A BBQ was held on campus following the game, including ceremonious speeches from Dynamos captain Henner Busemann and Pistons captain Jake Maule.
