Maureen Long joins DTM as an NSF Research Associate. Her interests include the study of seismic anisotropy and deformation in the Earth's mantle, using the tools of obersvational seismology, geodynamical modeling, and mineral physics experiments. Most recently, she has been developing and applying a theoretical framework for shear wave splitting intensity tomography to determine three-dimensional anisotropic
structure. While at DTM, she will continue her work on anisotropic tomography
for dense splitting datasets and integrating tomography with
geodynamical models, and become involved with the High Lava Plains
project in the Pacific Northwest.
