In June, Taka’aki Taira joined DTM as a C.V. Starr Fellow. Taira has a Ph.D. in seismology from Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. While at DTM Taira will be working with the seismology group to help develop improved metrics for monitoring faults and volcanoes, work that could lead to a better understanding of changes that might herald earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
