Nader Haghighipour left DTM in September to join the NASA Astrobiology Institute at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Hawaii, where he will be initiating a research program on the formation of planets in binary star systems and water-delivery mechanisms to the planets. While at DTM Haghighipour studied the the dynamical evolution of extrasolar multiplanet systems in order to investigate the possibility of their harboring habitable planets, as well as the dynamics of small solids in a solar nebula with local gas-density enhancements in order to understand the effects of the evolution of the physical properties of the gas on the formation of larger objects at early stages of planet formation.
