DTM welcomed Carnegie Fellow Isamu Matsuyama this October. Matsuyama received his Ph.D. in Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Toronto earlier this year. A theorist, he specializes in the formation of planets and interactions of young planets with circumstellar disks. Matsuyama is interested in modeling the effects of disk removal on planetesimal formation and the migration of planets, as well as investigating the rotational stability of Earth and Earth-like planets under the influence of both external torques and adjustments in the planetary inertia tensor (true polar wander).
