Pembroke J. Hart, Former DTM Predoctoral Fellow and Visiting Investigator, Dies Print E-mail

Pembroke J. Hart, DTM predoctoral fellow from 1952 to 1954, passed away on 6 February. At DTM, Hart worked on seismic studies with Howard E. Tatel and former DTM Director Merle A. Tuve, and he returned as a Visiting Investigator in 1965 as part of the Andean Seismic Expedition in Bolivia and Peru and again 1968 for the East Coast Seismic Experiment. Hart received his Ph.D. in physics at Harvard University in 1955. Hart was a staff member at the National Research Council from 1958 to 1989, and he continued as a consultant there following his retirement. His involvement in myriad international programs led to his receipt of the 2006 Edward A. Flinn Award of the American Geophysical Union.
