Former predoctoral fellow Heather Weir and husband Jim welcomed their first child, Abagail Jean Amrheim, early this morning. From 1993 to 1994, Weir worked with Selwyn Sacks in the DTM seismology group. She went on to receive her Ph.D. at George Mason University and now works as a Science Education Specialist at Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI), of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. She also works on education and outreach for the MESSENGER mission to Mercury.
