February 19 - Kevin Burke has been elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and will be formally recognized at the Associations' Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

January 31 - It has been announced that Sean Solomon, Director of DTM, will receive the Harry H. Hess Medal at the December 2005 meeting of the American Geophysical Union. The medal was established in 1984 “to honor outstanding achievements in research of the constitution and evolution of Earth and sister planets.” DTM Director Emeritus George Wetherill was awarded the Hess Medal in 1991.
