Maureen D. Long
Carnegie Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Terrestrial Magnetism, Carnegie Institution of Washington

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the geophysics and planetary physics
group at DTM.
My research focuses mostly on using shear wave splitting observations, geodynamical models, and
mineral physics experiments to characterize elastic anisotropy and deformation in the Earth's mantle. I finished my Ph.D. in geophysics in the EAPS department at MIT in June 2006. In January 2009, I will join the Department of Geology and Geophysics at Yale University as an assistant professor.
Would you like to read more about what I work on? Go to
my research page (links to papers here too).
And here is a publication list.
While you're at it, have a look at my CV.
And if you are really brave, you can take a look at my PhD thesis.
I am in charge of scheduling the geophysics group Journal Club (Tuesdays at 2PM in the seismology conference room!): here is a link to the Journal Club homepage.
I did my undergraduate degree in geology at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute in the wonderful department of Earth
& Environmental Sciences.
