DTM's former Web and Publications Coordinator, Alexis Clements, published an article entitled "Exhibition: Classifying the past," in the 16 February issue of Nature. The article focuses on photographer Mark Dion's exhibition, Microcosmographia, currently displayed at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston, UK.
Clements highlights the similarities of Dion's latest work to that of early 1900s naturalists, and how he attempts to display the problematic notions of accuracy in dealing with the past and present in the fields of natural history and taxonomy. Clements currently resides in London where she attends The London School of Economics and Political Science in pursuit of a master's degree in philosophy of science.
