December 10 - Richard Carlson was inducted as a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union at the AGU Fall Meeting.

November - Paul Butler was one of five winners of the Discover magazine Award for Innovation in Science and Technology for his work identifying extrasolar planets. A profile was published in the November issue of Discover.
