Weeraratne Joins DTM
Friday, 10 December 2004 05:05

Dayanthie Weeraratne, a National Science Foundation postdoctoral associate, arrived on campus in December from Brown University. Her work employs both fluid dynamics and seismology to investigate the dynamics of the Earth's interior, including the nature of mantle convection, the deep structure of volcanic hotspots, and the interaction of the convecting mantle with the overlying lithosphere. In January Weeraratne joined the research vessel Melville to undertake the next phase of work on the multi-institutional PLUME project to produce seismic images of the mantle beneath Hawaii.
