Zeroing in on Hekla
Tuesday, 19 October 2010 14:23

In September, Senior Fellow Selwyn Sacks, Systems Engineer Michael Acierno, Machinist and Instrument Maker Michael Crawford, and Electronic Design Engineer Brian Schleigh installed one of DTM's borehole strainmeters near Iceland’s Hekla volcano, as part of their collaborative work with the Monitoring and Forecast Division of the Icelandic Meteorological Office. This new installation, combined with an existing network of strainmeters, will provide improved monitoring of Hekla, a volcano that has erupted approximately every ten years since 1970.
