Matt Fouch Joins DTM Research Staff
Monday, 27 June 2011 14:54

Matthew Fouch has joined DTM as a new Research Staff member in Geophysics. Previously an Associate Professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University, Matt was a Harry Oscar Wood Fellow at DTM during 1999 and 2000 and spent a year at DTM on a recent sabbatical visit.  Matt is one of the leading field seismologists of his generation and is broadly interested in crustal formation, structure and dynamics of the lithosphere, seismic instrumentation, extraterrestrial seismology, and data visualization.  He has conducted portable broadband seismic experiments on three continents, and he currently co-leads (with David James) the seismological component of the High Lava Plains experiment.

Matt received a 2006 Faculty Early Career Development award from NSF and a 2007 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.  He was an EarthScope Speaker Series lecturer during 2007-2009.  He currently chairs the EarthScope USArray Advisory Committee, and he is a member of the EarthScope USArray Transportable Array Working Group, the IRIS Data Management System Standing Committee, the IRIS Coordinating Committee, and the AGU Fall Meeting Program Committee.

Matt's arrival at DTM, concurrent with that of Diana Roman, brings new vigor and excitement to DTM's programs in geophysics.
