Tim Grove (MIT) and students Jay Barr, Mike Krawczynski, Chris Waters and post-doc Etienne Medard along with Rick Carlson (DTM) followed Julie Donnelly-Nolan (USGS) around Newberry Volcano in 100^oF heat (not quite magmatic temperatures, but it felt close) collecting young basalt samples for chemical and isotope analysis. Data to be reported at the July 2006 Workshop. Samples of an unusual Sr and Ti-rich high MgO basalt are undergoing melting experiments at MIT.
