My interests are broad, from exoplanets to fundamental physics and my current focus is on precission techniques and data analysis in astronomy. I participate in the Carnegie Astrometric Planet Search where I created the data reduction pipeline and the calibration for CAPScam. I recently started working on Doppler spectroscopy, in particular, on precision techniques to obtain precise radial velocity measurements on cool stars. I am currently at University of Geottingen working with Prof. Ansgar Reiners in the design of gas cells for near-infrared wavelength calibration.
Astrometry of Nearby Cool Stars
During my postdoctoral period at the DTM/CIW, I developed the data analysis pipeline for the Carnegie Astrometric Planet Search project (w/ Alan Boss, Alycia Weinberger). Being at Carnegie gave me regular access to this instrument where I conducted other astrometric projects.
Precision Doppler Spectroscopy on Cool Stars
I have also been working on methods to obtain precision radial velocities of cool dwarf stars, also called M dwarfs. M dwarfs are the most numerous stars in the Galaxy and, thanks to their low masses, low mass companions such as planets can be detected around easily than on stellar types (such as Sun-like stars). I am developing wavelength calibration methods for the infrared and working on improved data analysis techniques to extract the maximum Doppler information from the stellar spectrum.
