University of Hawaii astronomers announce the discovery of another satellite of Jupiter, bringing the total of known Jupiter satellites to 40. Jupiter now has more known satellites than any other planet.

Discovery of the Satellite
The satellite was discovered on October 31, 2002 by Scott S. Sheppard from the Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii at the University of Hawaii 2.2 meter telescope while recovering previously discovered satellites of Jupiter. The satellite was formally announced by the International Astronomical Union on Circular No. 8035 on December 18, 2002.
